Realizing the importance of giving a systematic training to the nurses and the pressing need for such trained nurses for the expanding health care systems at both regional and national levels, Bharati Vidyapeeth established this full-fledged Degree College of Nursing in 1992. It was then the first college of Nursing in the non-government sector in Pune. The college offers a four year course leading to the B.Sc. (Nursing) degree. The college also has a postgraduate section in which M.Sc. (Nursing) programme with the following specializations is conducted:

1. Medical Surgical nursing
2. Community Health Nursing
3. Nursing Education and administration

Some more specialities are likely to be started from the next academic year, a proposal for which has been sent to the statutory council for approval. The college and its degree have approval and recognition of the Indian Nursing Council and Maharashtra Nursing Council.

The college also conducts a part time short term specialized certificate course in Critical Care Nursing for the working nurses. The course is designed to give additional training to the working nurses in Critical Care Nursing under the supervision of experts in the field. The college is housed in its own independent building adjacent to the Hospital. A hostel mainly for the students of this college, with mess and other amenities is annexed to the college building. It accommodates 150 girl students. The college has its own independent library. Added to this, the students have an access to the library of the Medical College, which is in its close vicinity. The faculty consists of experts in various sub-disciplines. Moreover, students also get the benefit of guidance from senior teachers of Anatomy, Physiology and other allied subjects, who are on the faculty of the Medical College. The clinical teaching and training of students is conducted in the 700 bedded hospital of our Medical College. The students of the college are also sent for training to Jehangir Nursing Home, Ruby Hall, N. M. Wadia Institute of Cardiology and other reputed local hospitals, known nationally and internationally for their expert doctors and ultramodern equipment. In addition, adequate opportunities are given to the students for the development of their personality, so that at the end of the course, they are ready to launch their career or are even capable of self-employment.
